Immaculate Conception School will once again participate in the 922 Food Drive to benefit the Twin City Christian Service Center Food Pantry.   We plan to participate in two ways:

Now thru September 17, we will collect canned food and non-perishable food items at school.   Our goal is to beat the record we set last year and collect 900 items!! IF we meet the goal, the class that brings in the most items (as counted per student) will be rewarded by throwing cream pies at Mr. Ritzert. Every student in the class will have a shot to hit Mr. Ritzert with a pie.

In addition to the food collection at school, we will ask for donations on Saturday, September 5 at the Dollar General Market in the McCauley Drive Plaza and Mako’s Market. We will work in one-hour shifts from 8:00 to Noon. Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 received sign-up forms to volunteer. If you would like to help, please call the school office today.

Sacred Heart Church is sponsoring the “Walk for Life” on Saturday, September 12.   Participation in this event would be a great family activity to demonstrate support for the Respect Life movement. A flyer about the walk is in the family envelope.

Students have been taking STAR Math and STAR Reading assessments. The diagnostic tests are administered several times a year to help us track student progress and identify strengths and weaknesses. A summary of the results will be sent home within the next couple of weeks.

On Friday, September11, students in grades kindergarten through three will attend the “Cashore Marionettes” show at the Kent State Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center.   We thank the PTA for supporting this trip and all of our field trips during the year.
