Next week we have an early dismissal at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 3. The teaching staff will be meeting to discuss the selection of new reading materials and our school accreditation improvement plan.

We have missed eight school days this winter because of the weather, not to mention several two-hour delays. That’s too much! Therefore, Friday, March 13 will be a regular school day.   This was originally scheduled as a day off for students, but we will be in session to recover some of the classroom time we’ve missed because of the tough winter.

This week we introduced a new Internet communication tool called SchoolSpeak.   SchoolSpeak is an on-line system that provides parents current student grades, classroom news, and a variety of other school information.   We will distribute a letter with more information next week. Parents will also receive an email message with log-in and password information for SchoolSpeak.   We believe this will be an excellent tool for parents to track classroom performance and keep up-to-date with the latest school and classroom news. Because grades are available through SchoolSpeak we will not issue mid-term reports unless a teacher has a specific concern to bring to the attention of the parents.

Our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students are planning an evening of exploration and fun for Tuesday, March 10 at 6:00 pm.   The evening will include a variety of fun activities and entertainment designed to demonstrate some of the great stuff our young students are learning this year.

The PTA Card Party is coming up Sunday, March 15 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the school cafeteria. Tickets are available in the office. We also have more tickets for the progressive raffle.

Immaculate Conception School is blessed to receive two recent grants for building maintenance projects. The Reeves Foundation awarded the school a $75,000 grant to replace the roof over the main school building.   Work on this project will begin shortly after the end of the school year.   The Zimmerman Foundation recently awarded a grant of nearly $4,000 to the school for emergency repairs to the school heating system. THANK YOU!!

You Can afford a Catholic Education!

Immaculate Conception School participates in the Ohio EdChoice Scholarship Program.   Families who meet income guidelines and have children entering kindergarten, first grade, or second grade are eligible for the scholarships that pay the full cost of tuition. For example, a family of four with a gross annual income of $48,500 or less is eligible for the EdChoice Scholarship.

In addition to EdChoice, we offer tuition assistance and other programs to help families in need with the cost of tuition.   Call the school office for more information.
